The Paster Family
R.I.P. Rufus 11.10.23
We are a family of five (and one lucky dog!) who enjoys discovering the potential each day has to bring through forest hikes, dancing around the house to funky jams, or eating a tasty meal. We want you to have as much fun as we are with discovering what our coffee journey has to bring, so we also invite you to share in the fruits of our ongoing roasts! Thank you for sharing in the luxury that is found within a well roasted and mindfully brewed cup of coffee.
In our business, we aspire to make meaningful connections with the farmers that grow our coffee whenever possible and to engage with the importers who take the time to source and deliver us our beans day-to-day. Through our business, we seek to empower the lives of the people we have the pleasure of working with by being successful & creative in our growth. Within our craft, we venture to be persistent at finding new bounds while being consistent at delivering upon those already discovered.
Our coffee is the medium upon which we communicate with the world and it is through this voice that we invite our fellow travelers to breathe in and be present in the life you have.
A blend of Kirimara AA, The Kiddos Peaberry & Don Clodoveo Natural.
The Kirimara farm is low altitude at 1350 MASL. The bean/ crop variety is Batian. They are also using drip irrigation on this farm to compliment the water shortage.
Kirimara farm is where John Sheffy of Liberation Farmers (Almond, WI) and his permaculture class has been most involved. This farm is where they helped plant macadamia trees and vetiver grass. There are also bee hives and many indigenous trees on the farm, including Meru Oak that Mathew planted. There are many papayas that grow wild throughout the coffee, planted by the birds, as well as some pumpkins and chilis that are spread by wildlife. Mathew has also planted an avocado farm adjacent to the coffee farm.
Please find more information about Mathew Mugo's roasting operation at www.gibscoffee.com. Mathew is involved with every step in the coffee supply chain. He successfully grows his crop while also implementing agroforestry practices. Once the cherries are picked he controls the washing process via his own milling stations. He also distributes his roasted coffee through Gibson's Coffee and a cafe in Nairobi.
